Description

The spacious family home on the Gower Peninsula sleeps eight guests and is the perfect bolthole for family reunions and holidays with friends. The property’s piece de resistance is its extensive grounds, offering ample areas for outdoor entertaining. The sandy beach of Port Eynon Bay is just 0.5 miles away, and you’ll also be within 5 miles of the much-loved Rhossili Bay.

The cottage has been tastefully renovated and combines stylish furniture and accessories with characterful original features. The cosy lounge has a striking, beamed ceiling and a roaring wood burner set inside an original fireplace. Spend your evenings on the comfortable sofas, reading a book from the collection provided or watching a film on the TV/DVD. The formal dining room also boasts a wood burner, as well as a feature stone wall and a large table to seat everyone. Completing the ground floor is a kitchen, shower room, and utility room. The five bedrooms are located upstairs and are all decorated in calming tones. Rounding off this exquisite holiday home is a sleek family bathroom. Outside, extensive gardens to the front and rear are awaiting your exploration. Come together for family BBQs on the patio, share picnics on the lawns, or wildlife watch from the summerhouse.

Port Eynon Bay has a sweeping, sandy beach and is one of Gower’s surfing hotspots. After a day at the beach, head into the village, where you’ll find several eateries, including a seafood restaurant and fish and chip shop. There are some breathtaking walks in the area: The stretch of the Wales Coast Path that leads to Rhossili Bay is one of the most wild and rugged of the whole coast path. There are also some less strenuous paths that take you around the dramatic headland of Port Eynon Point.

Reviews

Very well well equipped and lovely peaceful location.

Mrs D,

Lilac House is a clean, comfortable and well equipped holiday home situated in a lovely location with easy access to the beach and coastal path. It was an ideal place for our 3 generation family vacation and we enjoyed our stay very much. We were impressed by the provision of many basic provisions, such as dishwasher tablets and washing machine capsules, as well as some charcoal for the bbq being available. A welcome gift of local and Welsh produce was a nice touch – thank you.

Mrs C,

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location.

Mrs S,

Beautiful cottage set in lovely surroundings. Twenty minute walk to Port Eynon across the fields and short drive to Rhossili.

Mrs L,

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Dr M,

Miss C,

Lilac house is a beautiful cottage, with sea views and a lovely pub restaurant close by. Perfect for a relaxing family holiday.

Mrs S,

Amazing property in a beautiful location, well equipped for dogs and humans. Immaculately clean and so comfortable We all had a really relaxing holiday. Thank you!

Mrs B,

We had a very comfortable stay at Lilac House with 6 adults and two children. There was lots of space for everyone and a lovely garden. Overton is very quiet and it's a fairly short walk down to Port Eynon and several other wonderful beaches are within easy reach. Also recommend the walk down to the cliff path at Overton Mere - look out for the lovely horses

Mr C,

Generally loved the house and garden, location etc - pretty much everything was spot on. Just a couple of minor details - Would have liked a food blender. Also the house was generally very clean, but there were a few bits not cleaned - ie glass under kitchen cabinet, dirty towel hung over one bedroom door hook, one bin not emptied. Just a couple of things vs bins - there were no black bin bags for general waste, and as I think there had been no one in the house the week before the paper/card and glass/metal recycling hadn’t been put out and was all over full.

Mr Philip B,

We had a lovely week at the cottage but a few t there were a few things we were not happy with / disappointed with . There were no locks on the shared bathroom doors which was difficult with 4 different families sharing . The bath toweld were a skimpy size and we could have done with a few extra towels for the whole week plus we only had 1 bath mat and there were 2 bathrooms. The amount of toilet rolls provided was minimal. I’d requested the super king bed to be made up as singles and had been told that that would be done but it wasn’t. 2 of the bedroom blinds need repairing as they cannot be opened , once closed. The general cleanliness was ok however in the single bedroom it was very dusty and the bin still had rubbish in it including pill packets and I began to wonder if the bedding had been changed after the previous occupant. Lastly the welcome letter needs updating as it talks about a welcome pack that includes 2 packets of locally sourced coffee and there was no such pack or items, only a few teabags on the window sill. These things did not spoil our enjoyment but I wanted to bring them to your attention or you will remain unaware .

Mrs Carol F,
