Description

The Little Forge is set within an old limestone quarry, walking distance from the stunning Three Cliffs Bay. The cottage is built within the grounds of the former village forge and nestles into the cliff face of a limestone quarry besides the leafy canopy of the Gower Ash woodlands nature reserve Kilvrough Woods. To the rear of the cottage is a flight of steps leading up to the woodland of Kilvrough Woods, managed by the National Trust.

The woodland is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is a haven for plants and wildlife alike. A stroll through the woods will bring you close to goldfinches, bullfinches, long-tailed tits and buzzards, amongst others, all accompanied by the uplifting song of the wrens. The ash and beech trees of the woods provide perfect cover for a carpet of wood anemones, ramsons (wild garlic) and bluebells in the spring.

Over the road is the Gower Inn public house. It serves food from 12.00 until 9.00pm and has a great external beer garden. The traditional pub fayre menu is ideal for a quick easy option for lunch or tea and we'd encourage you to try their Gower Gold local brewed ale.

Reviews

A very cozy bolt hole in a perfect location to explore The Gower. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend The Little Forge.

Mr F,

Lovely property in a good location. The cottage was clean, comfortable with a nice welcome box. We had a warm welcome from the owners and given some good advice about the area.

Mrs M,

Lovely cottage secluded and peaceful really well equipped and welcome pack really great.

Mrs R,

Lovely little space to relax in and head out to the Gower from. We loved it

Mr T,

Excellent cottage and location. Good walks straight from the house and easy to drive to Gower bays and Swansea.

Mrs F,

Lovely location owners welcoming and friendly. The cottage is compact but offers everything for 2 to have an enjoyable stay.

Ms C,

We have been visiting the Gower for nearly 30 years now so we must have passed this quaint cottage hundreds of times without being aware of its existence as it is hidden behind a tall hedge, close to the main road. So you get a fair bit of noise from the traffic but we didn't notice it too much. It's located near to our favourite beaches so we didn't have to do a lot of driving during our stay and there are 3 walkable routes down to Three Cliffs bay. There is space to park just outside the cottage. The owners live close by so are on hand in the event of any problems. Fortunately we didn't require their assistance. The cottage has a spacious main room containing the kitchen area, a dining table, a sofa and a coffee table. A steep stairway takes you up to a mezzanine bedroom with a low ceiling. Our stay was during early summer but it was quite cool outside. The property warmed up quickly after the central heating was switched on. We had just about everything we needed to cook our own meals. There are quite a few local pubs we could have visited to eat out including the Gower Inn across the road but we brought quite a bit of food with us and there were local shops to stock up. An ideal cottage for a short couple.

Mr N,

The cottage clean, well equipped in a stunning location. The owners were welcoming and could not do enough to ensure we had a wonderful holiday.

Mr L,

Good location for Gower woodland walks and beach beauty spots, on a main road to be mindful of. Lovely to have private space self catering.

Ms C,

The whole cottage was welcoming & well equipped. The provision of basic foods - milk, eggs, pasta, jar of sauce, bread & biscuits was exceptionally generous and welcome.

Mrs S,

Location

Swansea, Mumbles village and some of Gower's best beaches and landmarks (Worms Head, Rossilli, Oxwich and Llangenith) are all within 10 to 20 minutes' drive. Plus you can enjoy a fabulous short walk from Shepherds to Three Cliffs Bay, a strikingly beautiful award-winning beach with a world famous view.
