Half term will soon be upon us and although we at Home from Home can guarantee first-class accommodation while you here with us in the Gower, Mumbles and Swansea Bay areas, what we can’t guarantee is the weather. Sorry about that, folks; but don’t despair because whatever the weather, there’s a feast of indoor fun and entertainment for all the family on the holiday menu. So just to whet the appetite here are our top 5 picks:
- Superbowl Swansea – everything you could wish for all under one roof in the city centre. Fourteen ten pin bowling alleys, complete with bumps and ramps for family competition whatever age you are; younger kids can burn off energy in a jungle-themed soft-play area; and older kids can play Ninja Tag in an exciting laser beam assault course. www.superbowluk.co.uk/swansea
- Plantasia – under a glass roof in the city centre, an interactive, fully-immersive experience where you can ‘grow your imagination’ and get up close and personal with the animals and discover rare and exotic plants. Free family trails and the opportunity to pretend to be a Forest Ranger, www.plantasiaswansea.co.uk
- The LC Swansea – Swansea’s premier leisure complex and the largest indoor waterpark in Wales. Make a splash in the Boardrider, the legendary indoor surf-machine; let off steam in the 4-storey interactive play area; or flex those muscles on the epic 30ft indoor climbing wall. No surprise that LC is Trip Advisor’s Traveller’s Choice Award-Winner. www.thelcswansea.com
- Haunted Castle, Oystermouth – If you’re not too scared, head down to Mumbles on the evenings of 30th and 31st October for a Hallowe’en experience in Oystermouth Castle with its hundreds of years of gruesome history. If you’re 9+ come in your scariest costume to face lights out and creepy characters with a hot chocolate if you make it through! www.enjoyswanseabay.com/events/haunted-castle-of-oystermouth
- Grand Theatre – two weeks packed with shows for all the family. See Milkshake Live’s spectacular new production, Milkshake Monkey’s Musical. Full of laughter and interaction. Sing the songs. Learn the dances. Get up on your feet! But that’s not all; if you want to see historical figures come alive on stage, come on down to see Horrible Histories. Watch the Terrible Tudors with Henry V111 and his headless wives, or the Pharaohs and pyramids in the Awful Egyptians. See www.swansea.gov.uk/SwanseaGrandTheatre for dates, tickets and prices.
